Map & Location:
The Trevi Fountain, with the homonymous square, is the most famous and fascinating fountain of Rome and certainly one of the world's most famous fountains and represents one of the most visited tourist destinations of Rome. The Trevi Fountain, represents an Ocean on a shell-shaped chariot pulled by seahorses, led by Tritons and is the terminal of the Aqueducts "Vergine", one of the oldest Roman aqueducts still in use since the time of Augustus. It Was wanted in 19 BC by Marcus Vespasian Agrippa to feed the thermal baths which he himself had built in the Pantheon. The work was evidently of extreme importance to the city, because citizens finally could use once again water from a source, instead of the water of Tevere River. The fountain that we admire today was begun by Pope Clement XII in 1732.
